I've never had many problems with grammar. It was just something else to learn and memorize throughout my high school career, just like equations, sonnets and which teachers patrolled which hallways during the times I had to, um, "use the bathroom" during class.
Misguided high school jaunts aside, grammar is just a set of rules to me, the laws of the writing and speaking world; and one always follows the laws. One needs a permit to wield the weapon of the pen, and it is very easy to mistakenly use that weapon to shoot oneself in the foot by holstering it in the world of bad grammar.
I'm no cowboy, but I always try to keep that barrel pointing in the right direction.
